BY ROAD

The driving route is well sign posted from Kisoro however there is actually no reason to go all the way to Kisoro when proceeding directly to Nkuringo through Kabale.

Follow the tarmac road southwest out of Kabale in the direction of Kisoro. At KM45 a sign post of Uganda Wildlife Authority and one of Nkuringo Bwindi Gorilla Lodge directs you right to Nkuringo. Prior to this signpost at KM26 you will observe a signpost directing you to the north side of Bwindi Forest via Ruhija to Buhoma some 90km distant. Keep left to continue on the Kisoro road at KM26 and do not proceed towards Ruhija or Buhoma.

AT KM45 leave the road to follow a windy road that will eventually expose wonderful views of the Bwindi Forest. You will observe a sign post for Nkuringo Bwindi Gorilla Lodge at the junction to the Rushaga 19km from Nkuringo. Continue on this unnamed ‘main road’ to the trading center of Rubuguri for 7kms. You must pass through Rubuguri town where 1km the other side of town at the junction to Kisoro and Nkuringo you will find another signpost for the Nkuringo Bwindi Gorilla Lodge in conjunction to one for Uganda Wildlife Authority. Nkuringo is a right turn some 10 km distance.

The travel time from Kabale is about 2,5 hours.
